Police appeal: missing Minehead man is wanted for prison recall

Avon & Somerset Police are asking the public to help them locate a missing man. Richard Scatchard has not been seen since Sunday and Police say they are concerned for his welfare.

The last confirmed sighting of Richard Scatchard was in a shop in Watchet. An unconfirmed sighting places him in Minehead at 10am the following morning.

Scatchard is 70, white, about 5ft 11ins tall, of average build with short grey hair. He’s believed to be travelling on foot or by electric bicycle.

However in a new twist, this morning Police amended the information on him. They say that as a result of enquiries they carried out while looking for him, they now say he is wanted on a recall to prison.

Detective Chief Inspector Jess Aston said: “While we remain concerned for Richard’s welfare we are now more concerned about the danger he may pose to other people, specifically women he forms relationships with.”

Officers are currently carrying out enquiries in both the Minehead and Watchet areas to try to locate him. If you see him, do not approach, and instead phone 999 and provide the call handler with the reference 5223251706.
