Fatal collision Cannington

A collision between a car and a lorry carrying livestock was reported at 6.35am this morning (Monday 7 August). Following the collision, on the A39 between Fiddington and Cannington, emergency services and the air ambulance rushed to the scene.
The driver of the purple Peugeot car, a man in his 60s, sadly died at the scene despite the efforts of the medics. His family have been informed and a specially-trained family liaison officer will provide them with support.
The lorry driver is not believed to have sustained serious physical injury.
The road is currently shut in both directions. This is to allow accident investigation work to be carried out at the scene and to allow the vehicles to be recovered.
The Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone who was using the A39 at the time of the collision and may have relevant dashcam footage, please contact 101. Give the reference number 5223189412.
It is interesting to see the article concerning local newspapers in Somerset and the decline
Part of the problem was caused by the newspaper publishers, generating free news paper vouchers.
To be redeemed at newsagents, that caused cash flow issues as the wholesalers.
Did not issue credit to the newsagents, quick enough
It is a good job the Somerset now has The Leveller
That works with the community radio station
