Closure of Taunton Property
On Thursday (1 June), Taunton Magistrates’ Court granted a 3 month closure order on a property in Taunton. The address on Enmore Road was said to be plagued with incidents of violence, affray. The court was told that loud disturbances were a regular occurrence at the address. Frequent visitors came and went to the property throughout the day and evening.
Officers sent to investigate identified links to drug use, with illegal substances found there. The Police also found what they describe as “drugs paraphernalia” at the property.
Following the court intervention, officers have carried out a closure order on the property. Help and support, including drug advice, has been offered to the involved parties. Police were accompanied by representatives from Somerset Council, the housing provider who supported the application.
Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts, Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Communities, Housing and Culture, said: “We take any breaches of tenancy that affect the community very seriously and work closely with the police to take decisive action where breaches of this nature occur.”
