GWR limited service this weekend
GWR are warning travellers to avoid using their train services this weekend if possible. There is a rail strike on Saturday 7 January and that will be followed on Sunday the 8 January with engineering works.
On Saturday trains will only operate between 7.30am and 6.30pm. No services will run after 6.30pm. Most lines through Somerset will not be operating. However there will be a limited service from Bristol to Plymouth. These services will stop at Taunton and Bridgwater. However there are no trains schedule to run from Bristol through to London Paddington.
No GWR trains are scheduled to run from Frome or Castle Cary stations.
On Sunday 8 January trains will start later and there could be short-notice cancellations and alterations. There are engineering works between Reading and Bristol Parkway. GWR services from Taunton and Castle Cary are running all the way to Paddington. However those services that do run are expected to be very full.
There will also be a limited service from Frome, via Westbury to London Paddington.
GWR are saying there will also be a limited number of services from Bridgwater on Sunday.
Passengers are advised to check train schedules before setting off and if possible avoid travelling on either day.
