Queen Elizabeth has died

The Palace has just announced the death of Her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. King Charles III will lead the nation in mourning the death of a loyal servant who has led this country for 70 years. The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. In a statement from the palace it was announced that “the King and Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.“
We understand all the Queen’s children were with her at Balmoral as well as her grandson Prince William.
Like many people in this country, the staff at The Leveller have lived their entire lives knowing only one monarch. It was an extraordinary record of public service. We honour her passing and offer our condolences to the Royal Family at this sad time.
“I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a King, and of a King of England too”!
POEM:- from my ‘step-daughter’ Nicola
“I wore the crown
I was young and unprepared and the crown was heavy
Whilst others were weary, I grew steady
Through war, uncertainty, and the darkest of times
We stood strong, we stood proud, we practiced the lines
I wore the crown
Though children I bared I had a kingdom to nurture,
I was not just a mum but to the country their server
Time pasted by and through loss came grief
How long could I continue but you all had belief
Marriage, birth, death and for right and for wrong
The crown was still heavy but now I was strong
I have lived my life a servant to you all
I have lifted burdens, I made the call
I worked my whole life to make you proud
I wonder what it will be when I’m no longer around
I wore the crown and my son is next
All I wish is he will try his best
Lay me to rest and do not mourn
For I have lived long and seen it all
The country will flourish and grow in his love
My son now wears the crown … I now reign from above”!
