A371 road closure coming

Somerset County Council is replacing drainage channels and gullies on a stretch of the A371 near Wincanton. The work, carried out by the Highway team is to get the road in a state of readiness for adverse weather. The work will protect the surface from flooding and ice during the winter months. SCC report that the gullies and channels are badly deteriorated.
The work is due to commence on 25 July will and continue to 26 August. During this time there will be a 24/7 road closure from Holbrook near Wincanton, to just south of Bratton Seymour.
Councillor Mike Rigby, Somerset County Council’s Executive Lead Member for Transport and Digital explains: “We do understand there will be disruption and our team will do everything they can to minimise this. Carrying out the work under a closure during the summer holidays when traffic is significantly lighter is the best option.”
