Final round up of South Somerset results

The count for the Unitary Council elections has concluded in South Somerset. In Martock, Independent candidates Tony Capazzoli and Neil Bloomfield both lost out. Both seats went to LibDems John Bailey and Emily Pearlstone.

The 3 Yeovil seats (West, South and Central) were unsurprisingly dominated by the LibDems. They won 5 of the 6 seats. Only former Conservative Somerset County Council Cabinet Member Faye Purbrick stopped a clean sweep.

Finally Wincanton and Bruton where the Conservatives won both seats, the only Dib=vision in South SAomerset where they achieved this. A strong showing from Bruton’s Ewan Jones for the Green Party was not quite enough. He came third with 1,045 votes.

So for the 17 South Somerset seats with 34 councillors to elect: the result was 26 LibDems and 8 Conservatives elected.
