Mystery of body found in Minehead
Avon & Somerset Police are appealing for information after a body was found on the beach at Minehead. The body of a man was discovered on the beach around 6.30am yesterday (20 April). The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained. Police are trying to establish the full circumstances of his death. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
A formal identification has not yet been carried out. However Police believe they know who the man is and have informed his next of kin.
Detective Inspector Rachel Whelan said: “We know very little about how he came to be on the beach. We don’t believe he was in the water for more than 24 hours. If you were on Minehead beach on Tuesday afternoon or evening and saw a man aged in his 60s wearing a grey hooded top with a black shiny jacket over the top along with grey tracksuit bottoms and white trainers we’d like to hear from you.
