Delays in Somerset tomorrow
Avon & Somerset Police are warning of an abnormal load passing through Somerset to reach the M5. The vehicle, a specialist earth mover, weighs in at about 148 tonnes, is 30 metres long and 4.6 metres wide. It will leave Crewkerne at around 9am tomorrow, Saturday 5 February.
The planned route is from Cathole Bridge Road in Crewkerne, onto the A30 at Yeovil. It will then be routed via the A3088, A303 and A358 and so onto the M5.
Police will be closing roads along the way to facilitate the journey. This is bound to cause some delays to traffic as the load will be travelling at a low speed. At lunchtime today (4 February) a broken down military vehicle caused chaos. It broke down on the single carriageway section of the A303 near Sparkford caused 2 mile delays in either direction.
If you need to travel in this area of the county, try and plan your journey to avoid the roads mentioned.
