New Bridgwater testing site
Last week we reported that COVID vaccinations would be available on Fridays at Bridgwater Town Hall in January. Today the Town Council have worked with the local NHS to open a new PCR testing facility. The new walk-through coronavirus testing facility at the Old Hospital site, in the Salmon Parade car park. It is open 7 days a week, between 8am – 6pm.
PCR testing is available at this site for those with symptoms – a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. Anyone with one or more of these symptoms should book a test at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
The new site is situated so it is easily accessible without a car. Anyone attending an appointment will be provided with guidance on getting to and from the test site safely. Additional support is available for vulnerable groups and people with disabilities.
Testing has already started at the new site and appointments are being made available each day.
The aim is to make it even easier to get tested and to reduce the time it takes to receive test results. Anyone being tested will be required to follow public health measures. That includes social distancing, not travelling by taxi or public transport, practicing good personal hygiene. You will be required to wear a face covering throughout, including while travelling to and from the testing centre.
