A303 and the solstice

National Highways is advising motorists to take care planning their journeys along the A303 this week. Stonehenge will be open from 7.30am to 10am* on Wednesday 22 December for the Winter Solstice. English Heritage will be livestreaming the sunrise. With limited parking on site, they are also urging visitors to use public transport.

To assist the flow of traffic both before and after the event, a 40mph speed limit will be put in place. This will be along A303 between the Countess roundabout and Longbarrow roundabout. The lay-bys in between will be closed.

You should expect delays if you are travelling along the A303 at the time.
