A303 fatal accident
The A303 between Sparkford and Podimore remains closed this morning. This follows a serious collision yesterday (16 June) in which a person has sadly died. Last night at around 10.30pm a car and a lorry collided. Emergency crews were called to the scene. Unfortunately the driver of the car, a 32-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Police have contacted his family and are providing support with specially trained officers.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and Police enquiries are ongoing.
The road is likely to remain closed for some time while an investigation is carried out at the scene. In addition some repair work will be carried out on the carriageway due to a fuel spillage. Motorists are advised to avoid the route for the rest of today.
