Burglary in Puriton

On the evening of Tuesday 19 January, a man knocked on the door on a house in Newlyn Crescent, Puriton. It was between 8.30 and 9pm. He asked for directions to Woolavington. He then asked to use the phone. The home owner, a lone elderly female refused but he pushed past her into her house.

Avon & Somerset police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They tell us that they believe nothing was actually stolen. The victim was physically unharmed but was left shaken and frightened by the incident. 

Police describe the offender as a white man is his late teens to early twenties with a moustache. He was around 5ft 10in tall, wearing dark clothing, a dark hoody, gloves and carrying a back pack.

Police patrols in the area have been increased to reassure residents. Officers will also be carrying out house to house enquiries.
