Distraction burglary Bridgwater

Avon & Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary in Bridgwater yesterday (4 December). At around 7pm last night an elderly man was the victim of a distraction burglary. A man entered the back door of the victim’s property on West Street. He claimed he needed to check on an outbuilding. While the victim was talking to him a second man entered the property. he then let in a third man via the front window to the property.

The three men then thoroughly searched through the house before leaving with a quantity of cash.

The Police describe the perpetrators as being white, aged in their 20s, of slim build and wearing dark clothing with their hoods up.

Police are now conducting house to house enquiries and a specialist team are at the house looking for evidence.

Anyone who witnessed three men acting suspiciously in the West Street area last night, or who has any other information which could help, is asked to call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5220273068.
