Assault and attempted Robbery in Wells

Did you witness the attempted robbery of a teenager in Wells?

The incident took place on Torhill Lane, just off Tor Street just to the east side of the city centre. At at round about 7.30 on the evening of last Thursday (26 November) a man approached the boy. He spoke with a strong Bristol accent. He demanded the boy hand over his belongings. When the boy refused, the man punched him. The boy then managed to run off and escape.

The boy did not require hospitalisation following the assault.

The man who accosted him is described as being mixed race, aged in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 6ft 3ins tall and of athletic build. At the time he was wearing a black snood, black tracksuit bottoms, a black hoodie, a black waterproof jacket and black Nike trainers.

Avon & Somerset Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident. Were you on Torhill Lane last Thursday? Did you see the incident? Do you recognise the description of the man?
