Girl assaulted in Bridgwater

A 16 year old girl was assaulted in Bridgwater on 24 October. She was walking along Monmouth Street after meeting up with some of her friends. At around 9pm she walked past Enterprise Rent-a-Car at the junction with St Johns Street.

As she approached the junction a group of 6 men attempted to speak to her. When she refused to engage with them she was assaulted. Police say she was punched about the head repeatedly and was knocked to the ground.

She managed to get away and went to a friend’s house nearby. They called her parents who took her to hospital. She was treated for a broken elbow, cuts and bruises.

The victim told the Police that her attackers were all aged about 30 and were wearing dark-coloured clothing. One had hair in a short afro style.
