Murder investigation in Dunster

Police were called at around 3am to an address in St George’s Street, Dunster last night (29 October). On arrival they found a woman who had been seriously injured. Despite receiving medical attention, she sadly dies at the scene. Police have not yet formally identified the woman. A post mortem examination is due to be carried out today.

Meanwhile Police have arrested a man in his 70s on suspicion of murder. He remains in Police custody. Whilst the Police believe this is an isolated incident, they will be patrolling in the town today, to reassure the public. A Police cordon has been set up around the address where the incident took place to allow officers to continue their work.

Speaking for Avon & Somerset Police, Detective Inspector Neil Meade noted “This is a serious incident, which has tragically led to the death of a woman. Her family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
