Musgrove and Yeovil have capacity
Further to our article yesterday on the latest COVID 19 data, we have now had an update from our local hospitals too. Yesterday’s data suggested that there was no sign of a sustained upsurge in cases in Somerset. Certainly not as had been experienced elsewhere in the country.
The question remains as to whether our local hospitals have capacity in terms of beds and ICU places. This morning following questions from The Leveller® we received a statement from both of our local hospitals. The statement acknowledges that both Yeovil and Musgrove are in a similar position. So this is a joint statement from a spokesperson for Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust:
“Yeovil Hospital, Somerset FT and Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group are working together, alongside our health and care colleagues across the county, to closely monitor this position on a daily basis. Although we are currently caring for relatively small numbers of patients with COVID-19, we can reassure patients and the public that we have plans in place to ensure that we can care for a greater number if we need to.”
Which we trust will give some reassurance to local people for the moment at least.
