Crewkerne hit and run

A car was stolen in Crewkerne last night (Sunday 16 August). The car, a Volkswagen Golf, had been left outside the owner’s house on West Street, with the keys in the ignition. Two men seized the car while the owner, a 23 year old man was in the house collecting some of his belongings. When he realised his car was being stolen he ran into the road to stop the thieves.

They drove off knocking him to the floor. In the event he suffered only minor injuries that did not require treatment in hospital.

Avon & Somerset Police are investigating and they are asking for witnesses to come forward. They say that the offenders drove off in the direction of Crewkerne High Street. As well as the car they drove off with a number of valuable items including a Macbook Pro, a Black Samsung mobile phone, Beats headphones and various items of clothing.

The Police are treating this as a serious incident and have conducted house-to-house enquiries. They are keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or dash cam footage of the offenders. They describe the two men who took the car as follows:

1. Driver: a white man, of skinny build with brown straight hair and a spotty complexion, aged between 18-35 and wearing black a hoody.
2. Passenger: a white man with brown hair wearing black clothing.

Did you see anyone who looked like that on Sunday night either in Crewkerne or the area around? Have you seen the car, a 61 plate red Volkswagen golf with black alloys and a GB sticker on the rear.
