Martock hate crime

Avon & Somerset Police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a hate crime incident in Martock. The incident occurred this Monday (10 August). At around 6 in the evening a man in his 50s was walking his dog at the Recreation Ground. He received homophobic abuse from a younger man who then left.

The Police have released an image of the man they believe was involved in the incident.

PC Daniel Crawford told us “The victim has been left distressed by the incident. This is being treated as a hate crime, which Avon and Somerset Police take extremely seriously, and an investigation is currently under way. Anyone who can help us identify the man pictured is asked to please get in touch with us. We’re also keen to speak to a football coach who witnessed the incident and attempted to intervene, and would ask this individual to make contact.   • Martock is the centre of trouble at the moment. Vandalism of cars, cricket pavilion, broken glass and rubbish all over the rec. Young people there shouting and drinking at 2.30 am … and now this. What’s happening?
