Racist Graffiti in Shepton Mallet
In this month’s Leveller you’ll find a lead article about the way Police have disproportionately treated residents in Somerset. Today we received a press release from the Police in a more positive vein.
Avon & Somerset Police are appealing to the public for help following an incident in Shepton Mallet. Around 6.45pm on 22nd June fencing near the Tesco Superstore suffered criminal damage and graffiti containing a racist term was sprayed onto the fence.
Police Community Support Officer Amanda Ware noted “Criminal damage of this nature is clearly unacceptable, and in this case contained highly offensive wording likely to cause distress. We are targeting our patrols in the affected areas in response. I’d ask anyone with information about who is responsible for this offence to contact us on 101, quoting reference 5220136663.”
