Firearm brandished in Shepton

Avon & Somerset Police were called out yesterday (20 May) following a disturbance in the Hillmead area of Shepton Mallet.

At around 5pm a firearm was report seen, but was not apparently fired.  Two women, aged 30 and 32, were later arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm. They remain in custody. Police confirm that an imitation weapon has been recovered.

The incident is, for now, being treated as an isolated incident involving people who were known to each other.
