Concern over Somerset vaccs
The NHS in Somerset is concerned at the drop off in mothers coming forward for vaccination.
In a statement to The Leveller® they said “We have seen a drop in Somerset in the number of pregnant women and parents bringing their child (baby) in for routine immunisation appointments as we believe there is a fear around going to their practice during the COVID pandemic and their possible concerns around their safety.“
There is particular concern that children and adults may miss their essential, routine vaccinations. These include important jabs such as the MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) vaccination and whooping cough (pertussis) for pregnant women.
GP practices across the South West continue to offer all routine immunisations. More to they point they are doing so in a safe way in accordance with Government social distancing and infection control guidelines.
The message is if you or your child is due a vaccination, you can get it organised safely. It is potentially more dangerous for you and your child to miss out on the vaccination.
