Dodgy notes in West Somerset

A number of incidents last month saw the use of counterfeit bank notes to pay for goods at shops in West Somerset.

On 19 April a fake Scottish £50 note was offered to pay for goods purchased at a beauty and healthcare shop in The Parade, Minehead. However the note was declined by the store.

A host of similar incidents followed where fake Scottish £50 notes were offered to discount store in The Avenue, a chemist in The Parade and later at a convenience store in Dulverton.

Avon & Somerset Police are now looking into the incidents and are keen to trace two men. They would like the men (see below), or anyone recognising them, to contact us through www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact, or by calling 101, quoting reference 5220085785

Meanwhile shopkeepers across Somerset are warned to be extra vigilant if they are offered Scottish £50 notes for payment.
