Keep active keep at home
Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP) has launched an Active at Home Pack for older people. Staying fit and healthy is a challenge when we are all indoors for so much of the time. However it is important as just one way you can help your immune system.
The idea is to help those who may be self-isolating, shielding or spending a lot of time at home. The packs contain an elastic resistance band (latex), a helpful booklet with exercise instructions and a self-isolating sticker. This can be stuck on your window or door to let people know you are self-isolating.
200 packs were piloted in the Minehead area. Having been deemed a success, they are now being rolled out across Somerset.
How can you get a pack? SASP are working with the four District Councils in Somerset to distribute 1,500 packs. These will be sent out using local COVID-19 support groups and wellbeing hubs. These are already supplying food parcels and other supplies to their residents in most urgent need. Further support is being provided by SPARK Somerset, a voluntary sector organisation providing support to communities to respond to COVID-19.
