Somerset elections

Council elections were due to take place across parts of England in the first week of May.
This year though, none of those elections were scheduled in Somerset. The County Council elections are meant to go ahead in 2021 and we had district council elections for all four Somerset districts in 2019.
The news that the elections scheduled for May 2020 have now been cancelled will only effect one election. That is the election of a Police and Crime Commissioner for the Avon & Somerset Area.
These elections have, The Leveller® understands, been postponed. As of this weekend there is no confirmation of the date they are postponed to. However a Government spokesperson did suggest that legislation will be introduced to postpone them until May 2021
In the meantime the incumbent PCC, Sue Mountstevens will continue to serve in post.
