Wells by-election

We could say that there is something about council by-elections being like number 9 buses. This being Somerset the existence of buses is all but on a par with unicorns, councillors however we know to definitively exist.

Nevertheless just a day after we published details of a by-election to Somerton Town Council, comes news of 2 seats up for grabs in St Thomas’s Ward in the City of Wells. This means the two candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected.

The election will be held (unusually for a UK election – they are usually held on Thursdays) on Friday, 7th February. The candidates put forward are as follows:

Conservative Party

Sebastian Alexander Johns

David Swain

Green Party

Peter Nicholas Harlow

Labour Party

Charlie Dart

Eileen Vivian Webber

LibDems

Rachel Humphreys

Joe Parker

Wells Independents

Sarah Caroline Powell
