Somerton dig

On Tuesday The Leveller® was invited to visit the site of the new King Ina School in Somerton. Archaeologists have uncovered one of the largest collection of Roman graves found in the south west on the site of the school. We’ll be writing more about this in due course. In the meantime we thought you might like to see some images of the site and the graves.

It was a muddy day, on the edge of one of the Roman graves:
As we walked across the site archaeologist Steve Membury just picked up a piece of black Dorset ware, of the Roman era, just lying on the ground
More Roman graves on the site:

Checking notes and making sure we have everything written down!
