Taunton town centre roadworks
Essential resurfacing of a busy road near two supermarkets in Taunton is planned to take place later this month.
The road surface on Castle Street, near the junction with Wellington Road and in close proximity to the Tesco and Lidl store entrances, is in poor condition and needs to be replaced.
The works will start on Monday 20 January and will be carried out in phases, working between 6.30pm to 11.30pm. There will be no access to Castle Street from Wellington Road during these times, but drivers can still reach the stores from the Tangiers direction.
For a final shift on Monday 27 January (6.30pm to 11.30pm), there will be a one-way system in place on Wellington Road to allow works to take place on the junction. During this time, traffic will be prevented from travelling into town along Wellington Road and diverted via Silk Mills instead. Outbound traffic will be unaffected.
