Fire engines to go

Martock, Taunton, Bridgwater and Yeovil are all to lose a fire engine. The fire station at Somerton will be unaffected by the proposed changes.

This is under a revised proposal by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue. The initial proposals that were put out to consultation were overwhelmingly rejected by the public.

DSFRS obviously decided putting these revised proposals out to consultation was way to risky.

Instead they will be voted on at a meeting of the authority on January 10th.

Of particular concern is the decision to take an engine from both Martock and Yeovil. Ads The Leveller® pointed out last year, these fire stations often end up providing cover to each other in the event of a major incident.

There will be an article on this in the January Leveller®
