Hit and run
We have two incidents of hit and run to report on this morning. The first acts as something of a warning for the perpetrators of the second.
Firstly Avon & Somerset police have charged a 66-year-old man following a collision in Cheddar on 23rd October. Michael John Dolman, of Bailiffs Close, Axbridge, has been charged with five offences following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the B3151. The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, suffered suffered head injuries.
Dolman is charged with:
- Driving without due care and attention
- Driving a motor vehicle after refusal of grant/ revocation of licence on account of disability
- Failing to stop after a road accident
- Failing to report a road accident
- Driving a motor vehicle without third party insurance
He was released on police bail and is due to appear at Bath Magistrates’ Court on 15 January.
Fail to stop collision in Chard
Which brings us to the current incident near Chard. The incident happened at approximately 6pm on Sunday, 8th December.
A car pulled out onto the A30 at Cricket St Thomas and collided with a motorcycle, knocking the rider off his bike. The motorcyclist suffered a broken ankle in the incident which requires surgery.
The car failed to stop at the scene and drove off in the direction of Crewkerne. The motorcyclist described the car as a large 5 door saloon. It is likely to have some obvious damage to the rear passenger side.
