Horses attacked in South Petherton
Two horses have been attacked at stables in the Pitway Hill area of South Petherton. The horses, one female and one male, suffered cuts on their faces caused by a sharp object, possibly a knife sometime between 10pm on Wednesday 4 December and 8.45am the following day.
Both horses needed emergency treatment, including stitches and stables, and they are on continuing medication.
PCSO Nikolaus Burge, from the neighbourhood team, said: “This is a very disturbing attack on two horses for no apparent motive. While offences like this are very rare, we’d encourage horse owners in the area to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.”
