Bridgwater councillor asks for more

Leigh Redman who represents Bridgwater at Town, District and County level for Labour, has signed a letter with 125 other council leaders to Jeremy Corbyn.
The letter urges a future Labour Government to commit to giving council’s more funding. The last few years have seen significant cuts in local government funding from Whitehall. This has led a number of Somerset councils to start speculative investments in the hope of generating returns to make good their loss of income.
Cllr Redman is hoping the Labour manifesto will announce funding increases and more devolved powers from central government.
