Taunton Robbery

Avon & Somerset Police want your help with a robbery investigation. The incident happened at about 5.15am on Saturday 2 November in Staplegrove Road, Taunton, near its junction with Chip Lane.

A 45-year-old woman was walking to work when a man threatened her with a screwdriver and demanded her rucksack. There was a struggle and the woman fell to the ground before managing to run away.

A few minutes later the man tried again, while the woman was still in Staplegrove Road. He made off empty-handed through the grounds of Taunton School towards Greenway Road when other people approached.

The victim suffered a bump on the head and grazing when she fell.

Police have issued CCTV images of a man they’d like to trace as part of their investigation.

The suspect was “white, aged 20 to 30, between 5ft 10ins and 5ft tall and slim. He wore a dark-coloured hoodie and trousers.”
