Congratulations Curry Rivel (and Yeovil too)

Well they made it all the way to the grand final of Britain in Bloom. Curry Rivel first entered the South West in Bloom contest last year and won their category and a gold medal.

Only a couple of weeks ago they repeated the performance with yet another Gold for the South West in Bloom contest.

And on they went to the grand final of Britain in Bloom itself. That was held last night and this time they didn’t quite make it to the winners podium. But let us get things in perspective, Curry Rivel were one of only two representatives from Somerset in the grand finals for the Britain in Bloom Awards. They were competing in the “Larger Village” category. They were awarded a Silver Gilt to add to the multitude of other medals they’ve picked up in just two years of trying.

Also there last night were representatives from Yeovil in Bloom. They were in the finals of the “Large Town” category. They came away with the same medal as Curry Rivel, Silver Gilt having lost out to the Staffordshire town of Biddulph.

But for both communities this is a phenomenal achievement, competing against the best across the whole of Great Britain. Well done to everyone involved and no doubt they’ll be back hoping to go one better next year.
