Rail strike next weekend
South Western Railway (SWR) has warned of new strike action. SWR runs the line through Yeovil Junction and Crewkerne to London Waterloo.
The strike action will impact services next weekend from Friday 30th August to Monday 2nd September. says strike action will effect services this weekend.
The company tell us:
- it will do everything possible to keep customers moving over four days of RMT strike action.
- Almost 60% of the normal SWR timetable to run on Friday and Monday. Around half of the normal timetable on Saturday and Sunday.
A South Western Railway spokesperson told us “The RMT has always said it wanted us to keep the guard on every train which is what we have offered as part of a framework agreement. We want to move the conversation on to how we operate our new trains and take advantage of the new technology on board to benefit our customers. We remain committed to finding a solution that will help us build a better railway for everyone.”
