Woman assaulted in Yeovil

An investigation is under way after a 48-year-old woman was assaulted by an unknown man in Yeovil. The incident happened near the junction of St Michael’s Avenue and Sherborne Road at around 3am today (August 24th).

The woman suffered stab wounds caused by a sharp object. Her injuries are not considered to be life-threatening or life-changing and she’s in a stable condition in hospital.

Avon & Somerset Police are now appealing to the public for help in finding the assailant. The suspect is described as white, in his early to mid twenties, of slim build and around 5ft 5ins.

The Police are now trying to find the attacker but also reassure residents in the area. Detective Inspector Lee Jones told us: “This is a concerning incident and we’re carrying out an extensive investigation to identify the man responsible including a review of CCTV, house-to-house enquiries and forensic examinations. There’ll be additional patrols in the area and I’d encourage anyone with concerns to speak to their local neighbourhood officers.”
