Keen – but not that keen
Avon & Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle used by first responders was damaged in a fail-to-stop collision in Chard. Unfortunately the incident was over two weeks ago. Sadly it has taken that long to put out an appeal for information.
The incident happened at about 4am on Saturday 16 February in Chard High Street near the junction with Crowshute. The first responders’ Toyota RAV4 was being used to attend an incident when there was a collision with a white van which failed to stop. The clearly-branded “First responder” vehicle was left undriveable.
The Police tell us they are keen to trace the van driver, or anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam or CCTV footage which could help.
It would obviously have increased the chance of getting the information if they had put the appeal out immediately after the incident. We might have thought our first responders deserved better than this.
