Ilminster Neighbourhood Plan

They are becoming all the rage around Somerset these days. The Neighbourhood Plan attempts to give town and parish councils a measure of control over the types of development and areas of development that will be permitted in their area. And as the ructions of Shudrick Valley versus Canal Way continue to rumble on in Ilminster, perhaps some degree of local planning control will be welcome by the townsfolk.
The group who have been developing the plan are holding a walkabout and workshop under the working title ‘The Character of Ilminster’ on:
Saturday 16th March from 10.45am to 3pm.
Meet at the Market House Ilminster for a briefing followed by a walking tour around the town centre. You will receive a free leaflet/ questionnaire.
The working group was set up by Ilminster Town Council and are being advised by ECA a Planning, Architecture and Community Consultancy (Community Interest Company) who have prepared a number of neighbourhood plans in the west of England. But this is your plan and all residents are invited to share their ideas and views.
The intention is to have a draft neighbourhood plan by the end of 2019 with adoption planned for some time in 2020.
