Fatal road traffic collision – Somerton
Police are appealing for help following fatal road traffic collision at Somerton yesterday, Sunday 28th October. The incident happened yesterday (Sunday 28 October) at 4.37pm on the B3151, near to the junction with the B3153.
This is where the road from Keinton Mandeville joins the road coming from Street towards Ilchester. Police tell us that a Ford Escort travelling along the B3153 from Kingweston and heading towards Somerton crossed the centre line of the road while negotiating a left-hand bend. It then collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction before also ending up in collision with a third vehicle which was travelling behind it in the same direction.
The driver of the Escort was given treatment at the scene but sadly died shortly afterwards. The road was closed to enable collision investigators to carry out a detailed investigation of the scene.
