Police To Cut Enquiry Office Hours
It is sometimes hard to follow the logic when looking at the way Avon & Somerset Police attempt to provide a service in Somerset. Their latest move will see a reduction of opeing hours at the Police Enquiry Offices in three of Somerset’s largest towns. Taunton, Bridgwater and Yeovil will all see hours reduced from 3 September .
The Police justify the move on the basis that “alongside improvements in the police estate and the need to make significant savings, the changes reflect the low footfall in some areas at certain times of the day.”
Having seen the closure of many enquiry offices in smaller towns across Somerset, Ilminster and Somerton spring to mind, this will be disappointing to say the least.
