More strikes on South Western Railway
After failing to reach agreement between the company and the RMT union, South Western Railway, the RMT has announced that it will now proceed with its planned strike this Saturday 18 August. In Somerset this will impact those passengers using Yeovil Junction and Crewkerne stations,
An amended timetable for Saturday will be published on the South Western Railway website: https://www.southwesternrailway.com/plan-my-journey/rmt-industrial-action/saturday-18-august
A South Western Railway spokesperson said: “We are committed to resolving this dispute and earlier this week met with the RMT at ACAS, reiterating our proposed framework agreement which centres around how we can better keep our customers moving during times of disruption.” Unfortunately they failed to reach agreement.
The RMT has further strikes planned on the following dates:
Friday 31 August – Sunday 2 September (72-hour strike)
Saturday 8 September
Saturday 15 September
As far as we are aware the GWR services running through Somerset (Bridgwater, Taunton, Castle Cary, Frome) will continue as normal throughout the strikes on South West Railway.
