New Clerk for Bridgwater

Bridgwater Town Council has announced the appointment of David Mears as Town Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer, in succession to Alan Hurford. Alan who has been a stalwart of Bridgwater and not just for his role as Town Clerk for the past 15 years, is to retire and we wish him a long and enjoyable retirement. As Mr Hurford explains “David is very well qualified, ambitious and looking for a new challenge. Bridgwater, one of the more forward looking local councils, will certainly welcome him and provide that challenge!” I a good way that is.

David has been Town Clerk of Langport for some 5 years and has wide experience with several local councils as well as having been a former Town Councillor himself in his home town of Chard. David will be sorely missed in Langport where he has overseen the modernisation of the Town Council’s recordkeeping and steered the council through a couple of difficult elections seeing largescale change in the makeup of the council.

He will take up the Bridgwater post later in the year after helping the handover in Langport.
