Dean Ruddle to step down
At last night’s Somerton Town Council meeting Dean Ruddle accepted the chairmanship of the council after he was voted in unanimously. In accepting the chair, Dean announced that he would step down as a Town Councillor and therefore as chair in a year’s time in May 2019. The whole council is due to stand for re-election next year and will be looking to do rather better than last time around in 2015, when just 10 councillors put themselves forward for 15 places on the council. The remaining five councillors had to be chosen via co-option.
Somerton Town Council currently has vacancies for two town councillors after the resignation of Councillors Lucas and Bomer.
