Greens make inroads
The by election for the ward of Wiveliscombe and West Deane has given the Green Party their first District Councillor on Taunton Deane Borough Council. The results of the by-election were as follows:
David Gary Mansell (Green Party) – 600 votes;
Susan Levinge (Lib Dem) – 389
Philip Thorne (Conservative) – 352
Following the by-election the political make-up of the council is:
Conservatives 33;
Liberal Democrats 15;
Independents 4;
Labour 2;
UKIP 1;
Green 1.
