Good news in Isle Brewers
Lost in the mists of the Somerset Levels, Isle Brewers is a village in a beautiful setting which is all too easily overlooked. Not any longer as the National Lottery has just awarded a substantial grant of £250,000 to help refurbish All Saints Church. The church has fallen into a sad state of disrepair in recent years and so following consultations between residents and the Diocese of Bath & Wells, the Parochial Church Council of Isle Brewers and local volunteers teamed up to apply for funding.
The project aims to fund essential repairs and the addition of basic amenities to All Saints Church and will enable the Church to be used as a much-needed community space, as well as a place of worship.
The Parish Council have expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported this application and are delighted that the Heritage Lottery Fund saw fit to approve funding for the project. However they always tend to look more favourably on projects that have demonstrated across the board support from the community.
John Boulter who led the village application explains “This is wonderful news for the entire village. Not only will a beautiful old building be saved but a community space will be created for all to use, something that has been sorely lacking for many years. Long may the Church continue to thrive”
