Resignations on Langport Town Council
The Leveller understands that following the public meeting called on Tuesday to discuss the future of the Hanging Chapel, a number of town councillors have tended their resignations.
The meeting was generally held in good spirit but the questioning was sharp and to the point. It was very clear that a majority of people in the town believed an attempt was being made to discuss sale of the Hanging Chapel. The clerk during the meeting made it clear that this was not the case. At present the only option being pursued is to renew the lease with the Freemasons who are the current tenant.
Obviously we will update you when we have more information and there will be a full report in the September Leveller.
At present there has been no formal announcement from the Town Council, again we will update you as and when there is.
