As a result the project were given a cheque for £5,000.
The conservation of the Avalon Marshes has been a protracted exercise across four years with sixty sub-projects contributing to the overall success of the venture. As a result it has been possible to preserve meadows, woods, reed-beds and lakes. The work on preserving the wetlands has helped to secure the local populations of rare species of wildlife like marsh harriers, bitterns and otters.
If you haven’t been out to the area already, you’ve now got the perfect excuse to make the trek!
