A39 closure “planned”
Major resurfacing works on a key route between Bridgwater and Street will take place from the 4th September. A half mile stretch of road will be repaired, extending west from the eastern end of the Olive Mill restaurant car park. Due to the narrow width of the road and to keep both the public and workforce safe, Somerset County Council have concluded it will be necessary to close the road to traffic while work is underway.
To keep any disruption to a minimum, this will be restricted to night working only (7pm to 7am) with the road reopening during the day, although temporary traffic lights may be required at times during the day. Works are scheduled to take approximately five nights.
There is a suggested diversion, but frankly unless you are driving a heavy vehicle it is so silly we’re not going to publicise it. You’ll be able to find your own way around using satnav or dare I say it – a bit of pre planning with a map!
