Conservatives Hold Turn Hill

The balance of power in South Somerset District Council will not be changing any time soon. Last night’s Turn Hill by-election result produced a win for the Conservatives with a turnout of 37.5%. I suppose the turnout is not that bad for a local election but it always feels disappointing to get less than half of all electors to turn out.

Looking at the bigger picture, this result leaves SSDC in the same state of perfect equilibrium it was in before; with 30 LibDems and 30 others (either Conservatives or independents)

The result was as follows:

Gerard Tucker, Conservatives : 452

Julia Gadd, Liberal Democrats : 354

Sean Dromgoole, Labour:  74

Congratulations to Gerard Tucker.
